Slipknot breaks silence on Sid Wilson exit with blunt statement

Sid Wilson is officially leaving Slipknot after 28 years.

Slipknot have confirmed that Sid Wilson is no longer part of the iconic band.

The group announced the departure in a blunt statement that briefly appeared on their website, bringing an end to weeks of speculation surrounding the DJ and keyboardist.

“Effective immediately, Slipknot will no longer be associated with Sid Wilson,” the band said.

“We wish him the best in his future endeavors.”

The announcement was later deleted from Slipknot’s Instagram account, although it remained on the official Knotfest account.

A caption accompanying the post said: “Slipknot have parted ways with Sid Wilson. The announcement could briefly be found on the band’s website.”

No official reason has been given for the split of Wilson.

The news follows reports last month that Wilson had been kicked out of Slipknot. TMZ reported that the 49-year-old had been removed from the group, although the claim had not been confirmed by the band at the time.

Wilson had been with Slipknot since 1998, making him one of the band’s original nine members. He joined before their self-titled debut album arrived in 1999 and remained part of the lineup through their rise to global metal success.

The band went on to win their first and only Grammy Award in 2006, taking home Best Metal Performance for “Before I Forget”.

Wilson’s exit is another major change for the lineup in recent years. Slipknot previously parted ways with Chris Fehn in 2019, while bassist Paul Gray died in 2010 and drummer Joey Jordison died in 2021. Craig Jones, another longtime member, left the band in 2023.

His departure also comes during a period of personal upheaval. Wilson and Kelly Osbourne reportedly ended their engagement earlier this year after beginning a relationship in 2022.

The pair, who had known each other for 23 years before becoming romantically involved, share a son named Sidney.

Wilson proposed to Osbourne backstage at her father Ozzy Osbourne’s final Black Sabbath concert in Birmingham.

The band’s latest live performance took place in July 2025 at Inkcarceration, a music and tattoo festival in Ohio.
